Bill Latka commented on Contact Us 2024-09-22 12:34:23 -0400Ani Sturm,, Patrick Moore and his theories have been debunked. Moore is often incorrectly referred to as a founder of Greenpeace. According to a statement by Greenpeace, “Patrick Moore frequently portrays himself as a founder or co-founder of Greenpeace, and many news outlets have repeated this characterization. Although Mr. Moore played a significant role in Greenpeace Canada for several years, he did not found Greenpeace.”
According to Greenpeace, “what Moore really saw was an opportunity for financial gain. Since then he has gone from defender of the planet to a paid representative of corporate polluters.”Contact Us

“I would first like to learn about folks in West Michigan and what moves them," she says. "With an open heart and mind, I invite those from all walks of life to join us in understanding how our personal histories can craft a more cohesive future for this beautiful state. I am committed and excited to uplift the wants and needs of the people by empowering them to use their voices.”

TABLERS
Pack up all your best swag to interact with 400+ in-person attendees! We've secured a window from 1 to 4 p.m. the day before, Thursday, June 1st, for you to safely drop off your tabling materials to store overnight in a locked room. Please plan to bring them to Ambassador Room B, room 158, on the main level of the Oakland Center. Contact Denise at 217-899-6959 if you need assistance gaining access to the room.
Eight-foot tables with two chairs will be provided. With 30 wonderful organizations joining us, we've opted to assign tables for ease and efficiency of setup. See here the map and key to help identify your group's location Friday morning.
Doors to the Oakland Center will open at 8:00 AM. We encourage you to come early to check in and set up your station by 8:15 AM.
Lastly (but surely not least!), please plan ahead to offer a unique action prompt to be performed by Summit participants visiting your table. It can be as simple as taking a step to uncover more fun facts about your own organization. We are arranging a digital and physical space, as part of an art installation, where attendees can document the actions they devoted their time to during the day, and will culminate the Summit with these commitments to climate activism.
Takedown: We hope you will stay all day and would love to have you rallying around a celebration of our participants' actions during the reception – but do what you can, of course, and please keep in mind all materials must be removed from the Oakland Center by 8 p.m. at the latest.
VOLUNTEERS
Prep Day - Thursday, June 1: MiCAN staff and the Summit planning committee will be at the Oakland Center from 1 to 4 p.m. to preview the rooms and logistics and assist sponsors with dropping off tabling materials, and we will be hosting all volunteers during this time.
There is a mandatory ALL VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION meeting in which we will review this schedule, the description of all roles, and the basic run of show for the next day, Summit proper. Details below:
- When: 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
- Where: Ambassador Room A, room 157, on the main level of the Oakland Center
- We expect you in person if at all possible, but if you must, join virtually via Zoom here.
Event Day - Friday, June 2:
For set up crew, please arrive at 7:00 AM. Everyone else, please arrive when the doors open at 8:00 AM or before your assigned role begins. Make yourself known to the folks at the registration table that you are a volunteer, and then find the station area to which you are assigned.
Volunteers will receive an orange lanyard for their name tag and an orange button, so folks know you are there to help. [Including yourself! – Look for others with an orange button and lanyard when navigating to your station, and contact Denise (217-899-6959) if anything comes up.]
Bring a smile and some patience, and prepare to be fulfilled by helping others enjoy the day to the fullest!
THANK YOU!
