USGBC Detroit Region is launching its Building Transformation Forums — new engagement opportunities for the community to transform the building industry and address pressing climate issues. The first Forum on Wednesday, April 17 will convene sustainability professionals from across our region for a conversation focused on the intersection of equity and the built environment. Gather among your peers for an inspiring and thought-provoking panel discussion, an informative LEED project tour, plus a networking reception. USGBC Detroit will also host an engaging Women in Green Luncheon prior to the Forum.

More about the Forum from USGBC:

Our Forum's education will focus on the intersection of equity and the built environment — which in green building terms can mean different things at different scales. An individual will have different avenues than an organization, an architectural firm will have different opportunities than a manufacturer. But everyone must consider how they can look at their current actions and begin to make changes to address diversity and inclusion, accessibility, community impact and engagement, environmental justice, empowerment and agency, health and well-being and other critical issues. USGBC has initiated programs in support of equity in communities, in schools and within LEED at the project, community and city scale. Equity is reflected in LEED through revisions to intents, incorporation of equity questions into the integrative process credit and the development of new pilot credits.

With this top of mind, our Thought Leadership Panel will focus on biophilic design, green cleaning and indoor air quality and challenge you to think differently about the application of equity in all aspects of your life. After the panel, you can continue to connect with your colleagues while enjoying an informative tour of our venue, which is a LEED v4 ID+C Gold office space and a unique example of adaptive reuse.
