Climate Action Through Michigan’s Creative Voices

MiCAN's Vision for a Sustainable Future
Throughout history, social movements have used art and culture to gain support and challenge unfair practices. From powerful songs in the civil rights movement to important feminist literature, cultural works have driven change. By amplifying the voices of those who are often ignored and celebrating diversity, art can help create a more inclusive climate movement.
MiCAN values the role of art in our efforts. By incorporating creative activities into our campaigns and events, we can inspire more people to take action on climate change. We support artists and offer spaces for conversation and teamwork, like our community art builds at the 2023 and 2024 Michigan Climate Summits and our ongoing Climate Culture Club Program.
As part of MiCAN’s 20-Year Vision Statement, we aim to create lasting cultural shifts toward a fairer, more sustainable future for everyone in Michigan. Art and creativity will help us imagine and work towards a future we can all be proud of. Together, we can make that future a reality.
