Storytelling and Honoring Climate Champions
The Michigan Climate Action Network is on the ground across the state. Through our expansive network, we bring you stories and information you won’t find anywhere else. Our storytelling projects—open to your participation—help us understand how Michigan’s evolving energy landscape impacts real people.

What is MI Community?
MI Community is a space for advocates across Michigan to connect and collaborate on climate justice. You can quickly create a free account to interact with others, share tips, learn about updates, and access exclusive climate news and resources.
It’s a place to stay informed, exchange ideas, and connect with fellow advocates from across the state—all in one community.
Do you offer resources for local climate leaders?
MiCAN is the hub of Michigan’s climate movement. On our website, climate leaders can access a wide range of resources, including archived videos featuring experts and grassroots groups from across the state. We also produce deep-dive series on critical topics—like the Line 5 fight and false vs. justice-based climate solutions—that cut through noise and greenwashing to deliver clear, actionable information on climate adaptation and resilience.
You can explore all of this on our site, join our virtual community to connect with other climate leaders, and stay updated through our social media and email list, where we share the latest news, events, and analysis to help you make informed decisions in your community.
What kind of climate issues does MiCAN focus on?
MiCAN is focused on amplifying, supporting, and connecting Michigan’s climate movement. Our core goal is to provide the infrastructure and coordination needed for the movement to reach its full potential across the state.
Many of the issues we work on have statewide or far-reaching impacts. We are deeply involved in the fight against Line 5, and we travel across Michigan documenting the energy landscape and the ways people are experiencing and responding to it.
MiCAN is also committed to uplifting justice-based climate solutions. Through our educational series, we debunk false solutions that won’t meaningfully address the climate crisis—or that fail to center fairness and equity for impacted communities.
