Volunteer with MiCAN

What are some of the benefits of volunteering?
Volunteering with the Michigan Climate Action Network is a chance to pursue your goals while creating real impact. From attending conferences and volunteer events to meeting special guest speakers at events, you’ll have opportunities to learn, connect, and grow. Volunteers also gain valuable skills, access MiCAN-branded gear, and stay plugged into Michigan’s climate movement. Whatever you’re hoping to achieve, MiCAN is here to help you engage, contribute, and lead.
Volunteer Mission Statement and Impact
Volunteer Program Mission Statement:
The Michigan Climate Action Network’s Volunteer Program empowers individuals to build a strong, equitable climate movement across Michigan. Our volunteers are vital in helping us amplify, connect, and support the people, organizations, and communities driving urgent and bold climate solutions. Volunteers strengthen our network’s capacity and influence through diverse and meaningful engagement to create a just transition to a sustainable future for all Michiganders.
By harnessing volunteers’ passion and skills, we aim to expand our capacity to engage more communities, amplify underrepresented voices, and accelerate the implementation of equitable climate solutions. Volunteers will play a crucial role in strengthening collaborations, mobilizing civic engagement, and accelerating the implementation of bold climate solutions across the state.
Through this program, we aim to build a more significant, more connected movement while empowering individuals to take ownership of climate action in their communities.
Impact of MiCAN’s Volunteer Program
MiCAN’s Volunteer Program is designed to significantly expand our reach, capacity, and influence within Michigan’s climate movement. By harnessing volunteers’ passion and skills, we aim to enhance our ability to engage more communities, elevate underrepresented voices, and accelerate equitable climate solutions.
Through a structured ladder of engagement, we aim to train and empower volunteers to become the climate leaders of tomorrow. By offering training, leadership development, and opportunities for deeper involvement, we’re equipping volunteers to take ownership of the movement. The goal is that these leaders will eventually mentor and train new volunteers, fostering a continuous cycle of growth and leadership.
