2025 Young Climate Leader
Award Winner

Meet Anamika
Anamika Verma is a high school senior from Troy, Michigan. She is a Marine Plastic Ambassador for EarthEcho International, where she has travelled to Washington, D.C., to lobby for national bills and connect with youth across the United States to learn how art is and can be implemented to create change for our environment. She also works at the Detroit Institute of Arts, where she is the Co-Chair of the Teen Arts Council and has organized teen events for Metro Detroit youth, connecting advocacy to art.
Beyond that, Anamika is committed to reducing textile waste through upcycling. She loves creating patchwork clothes and teaching others how to upcycle their old clothes. After graduation, Anamika hopes to double-major in Environmental Studies and French (drawing on her 9 years of experience at a French Immersion School in Canada) to advance global and community-centered solutions to climate-related issues. She aspires to continue bridging art and environmental justice to empower young people and build a more sustainable future for everyone!
