2020 Michigan Climate Action Summit

Summary
Our second Summit promised exciting announcements about Governor Whitmer’s Mi Healthy Climate Plan, but it wasn’t to be. The day before the Summit, the Governor announced a public health emergency, which marked the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in Michigan. MiCAN followed the advice to cancel large gatherings in the interest of public health.
Gov. Whitmer was scheduled to be the Keynote speaker at the conference. Tribal leader Frank Ettawageshik and Ann Arbor Mayor Chris Taylor, along with Stephen Edel, were to join from New York to share how the NY Renews coalition passed the strongest climate and equity policy in the country.
