We’re honored to recognize the emerging leaders who have contributed to MiCAN through internships or programs that have helped us deepen our work and deliver results to advance climate advocacy in Michigan.

Transitioning into a digital climate influencer has been an incredibly fulfilling and exciting journey for me. Not only has it allowed me to expand my outreach to new and diverse audiences, but it has also provided a platform where I can authentically share my passion for environmental sustainability.

Climate Influencers

With support from the Midwest Building Decarbonization Coalition, MiCAN launched two sets of a 12-week paid Climate Influencer Cohort in 2024 to mentor young BIPOC Michiganders (ages 18–25) in creating climate, culture, and decarbonization content.

This program centers historically excluded voices and helps them build skills and connections in Michigan’s climate justice movement. By sharing their own stories and engaging their communities, participants help shift the climate narrative and expand the climate movement’s reach to new audiences.
