Tell Lansing: Support Plug-In Solar Legislation

As electricity rates continue to rise, Michigan families are left with few options to manage their monthly energy costs. House Bill 5764 would provide consumers with greater choice by allowing them to use a safe, low-cost technology to offset a portion of their electricity use. The bill does not require state funding or subsidies; it simply removes barriers that currently prevent residents from accessing this option.
Many people live in apartments, or afraid to make the investment for full solar panels because they’ll have to move again. However, thanks to advancements n technology, it’s now safer and easier than ever to plug a panel directly into an outlet, and to receive clean, renewable energy.
However, Michigan has no laws covering it yet. A new safety standard means lawmakers now have what they need to act. A hearing would help close this gap and open up solar access to more people. Tell the Michigan House of Representatives Energy Committee Chair to schedule a hearing on this critical bill.
