Tell Lansing: Support Plug-In Solar Legislation

As electricity rates continue to rise, Michigan families are left with few options to manage their monthly energy costs. House Bill 5764 would provide consumers with greater choice by allowing them to use a safe, low-cost technology to offset a portion of their electricity use. The bill does not require state funding or subsidies; it simply removes barriers that currently prevent residents from accessing this option.

Many people live in apartments or are afraid to invest in full solar panels because they’ll have to move again. However, thanks to advancements n technology, it’s now safer and easier than ever to plug a panel directly into an outlet, and to receive clean, renewable energy.

However, Michigan has no laws covering it yet. A new safety standard gives lawmakers what they need to act. A hearing would help close this gap and give more people access to solar. Tell the Michigan House of Representatives Energy Committee Chair to schedule a hearing on this critical bill.
