TAKE ACTION

Sign the Petition Thanking Gov. Whitmer for taking meaningful action on climate.

UPDATE THURSDAY FEB 14: The Michigan Senate followed the House by voting today to overturn the executive order reorganizing the MDEQ that created the Office of Climate and Energy. Fortunately, this will not stop the Governor from entering Michigan into the U.S. Climate Alliance. Please sign this petition showing support for the kind of change we need to fight climate change.

Join us in thanking Gov. Whitmer for entering Michigan into the U.S. Climate Alliance, a bipartisan coalition of governors from 19 other states that have committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions consistent with the goals of the Paris Agreement. We applaud this kind of bold action - it's exactly what Michigan needs to accelerate action on climate change.

Governor Whitmer:

Your directive to enter Michigan into the U.S. Climate Alliance is exactly what is needed to jumpstart Michigan's action to address the worse effects of a warming climate. We wholeheartedly thank you for taking this action and pledge to work with you to rapidly move Michigan towards a clean energy economy.

Thank you for working to protect our air, water, and land for us and future generations.

Thank you! My mom just passed away from Multiple Myeloma. Her doctors told us it was from childhood environmental toxins. Clean air and water is a no-brainer.

As climate change so swiftly evolves, we are all spinning, quite literally, trying to keep up. This is science – not an opinion. Michigan, and those states around the world’s greatest bodies of fresh water, will be under increasing pressure as our planet changes. We must lay the groundwork for protecting our resources now, for the greater good of all. Our natural resources must be protected as the pressure on them mounts. Otherwise, we lose the water we need to drink, the trees that produce the very air we breathe, and life as we know it. It sounds extreme – but it is that basic and simple. Thank you, Governor Whitmer, for understanding the science of climate change, urgency, and taking action NOW.

Well, if the republican legislators refuse to work with us on the environment, perhaps we ought to veto everything they try to pass from here on out. That’s what they get for playing hardball with the environment as well as with the lives of the people of the state of Michigan.
