50 States of Solar report: Utilities pushed for more fixed charges in 2024
Michigan was among the most active states for legislative and regulatory action around solar policy in 2024, according to a new report. (Solar Power World)
The N.C. Clean Energy Technology Center (NCCETC) released its 2024 annual review and Q4 update edition of The 50 States of Solar. The quarterly series provides insights on state regulatory and legislative discussions and actions on distributed solar policy, with a focus on net metering, distributed solar valuation, community solar, residential fixed charges, residential demand and solar charges, third-party ownership and utility-led rooftop solar programs.
The report finds that 47 states, plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, took some type of distributed solar policy action during 2024, with the greatest number of actions related to net metering policies, residential fixed charge increases and community solar. Detroit Climate Can't Wait Rally
We’re rallying for good union jobs. We’re rallying for justice. We’re rallying for our health. We’re rallying for the future of our climate — for our future. Will you join us?
On Saturday, February 15, we’re hosting the Climate Can’t Wait rally in Michigan, to make it clear to Congress and the Trump administration that our climate is non-negotiable. In 2024 alone, the planet was hit with the hottest summer on record, as well as multiple hurricanes, wildfires, floods, and other devastating extreme weather events. The threat of these disasters is only growing greater – yet President-elect Trump is attacking the protections keeping people safe from extreme weather, cleaning up our air and water and creating good union jobs.
That’s why, this February, we’re mobilizing the largest possible number of people to demand action on climate and environmental justice. RSVP to join us. Because our climate can’t wait – and neither will we.
Co-hosted by: Environmental Defense Fund Action, Great Lakes Business Network, Michigan Climate Action Network (MiCAN), Michigan League of Conservation Voters (MILCV), Moms Clean Air Force and West Michigan Enviromental Action Council (WMEAC)
