The Midwest is ready for an equitable transition to all-electric buildings that save money, eliminate carbon, heat reliably, and keep fossil fuel fumes out of our homes & businesses.

The Midwest Building Decarbonization Coalition (Midwest BDC) seeks to develop and implement equitable strategies to achieve zero emissions from the Midwestern building sector by 2050.

Our core initiatives

  • On the day-to-day, most of our work takes place in various working group meetings. Midwest BDC members can join and participate in as many groups as they want - and with groups ranging from focusing on health to federal policy to housing, there’s something for everyone!

Learn more about our different working groups here.

  • Midwest BDC is committed to building a movement for everybody to equitably decarbonize the building sector in the Midwest.

To align our work with Justice40 and the Climate Funder’s Justice Pledge, we have committed 40 percent of our annual budget to funding community-based organizations. We are directly supporting BIPOC and people living in frontline communities. Learn more here.

  • We’re proud to bring several free, online events and trainings to you each month! Attending one of these is a great place to start if you want to learn more about decarbonization, climate justice, or our work. Check out our library of recorded trainings, and make sure you’re registered for our upcoming events!
