Join us for a powerful day of remembrance and restoration as we mark 15 years since the Line 6b oil spill devastated the Kalamazoo River. To commemorate the anniversary we will display a portion of the over 30 thousand origami fish submissions that un-o-FISH-ally 🐟 broke a world record! Thanks to the creativity and dedication of people from across the country, each folded fish is a symbol of our shared commitment to protect the Great Lakes and shut down Line 5.
Together with the Kalamazoo River Watershed Council, we’ll paddle the impacted section of the Kalamazoo River, reflect on the impacts of the 2010 spill, and recommit to protecting our Great Lakes from future harm.
Join us Saturday, July 26th, 2025, as we Kanoe the Kazoo!
This event is open to paddlers of all experience levels—whether you bring your own kayak or reserve one of ours. The paddle ends with a joyful community gathering at Historic Bridge Park, complete with music, food, and celebration. With partnership from water protectors at Kalamazoo Remembers, this will be an event you won't forget!
Clean water matters more than dirty, outdated oil pipelines!
