Big News! The U.S. House just approved the $3.5 trillion budget resolution a key step toward passing the budget reconciliation bill that will include historic climate policy.

This is the biggest opportunity in over a decade to tackle the climate crisis, and would be a huge step toward the climate reductions needed to keep warming to 1.5 degrees. And it will be voted on this fall. We cannot miss this chance for climate action.

The reconciliation package will include $150 billion for wind and solar to reach 80% renewable energy by 2030, billions for electric vehicle charging stations and EV rebates, $10 billion for a Civilian Climate Corps, $400 billion to modernize the electrical grid, $1 billion for the Great Lakes, and more. All provisions are designed to also create good jobs and benefit disadvantaged communities.

Once the full bill is drafted, it will go through the budget reconciliation process this fall, which cannot be defeated by a filibuster in the Senate. We need every single pro-climate vote and Michigan is a key state. We have to make sure our Members of Congress hear from us right now.

Please take two minutes to tell your Members of Congress to support the reconciliation package that includes major climate funding!

The latest IPCC report makes clear: we have a narrow window - right now - for serious action to avoid the worst impacts of our overheating planet. The time is now to let Congress know that we support action on climate.

Do you realize how much 3.5 trillion dollars is? You should have used the fluff money you stuffed onto the stimulus packages to enrich yourselves while sending us peasants a few thousand in hush money. Supporting this wasteful spending is treasonous considering that damage you have and will inflict on our economy will be catastrophic.
Sincerely, Craig P. Berry (disappointed citizen)
