The TC City Commission will have Building Electrification Policy on their agenda on August 8, presented by Commissioner Tim Werner.

In December 2016 the Traverse City Commission made this strong resolution addressing climate change, which you can read HERE.  They went so far as to appoint a Green Committee. But sadly, in those seven years, actions have not resulted in significant progress toward a more resilient community.

Please show up on Monday, August 7, 2nd floor, 400 Boardman Ave. Read the Building Electrification proposal, then NMEAC urges you to email a sentence, a paragraph, or whatever it is you want to say (a positive or even an angry message), to all the commissioners HERE. And spread the word to your network and show up wearing green, or your favorite shirt proclaiming your love of our earth and families. Let’s be visible in large numbers.

This proposal is part of the Traverse City Light and Power (TCLP) Climate Plan and a resilient action plan developed with the aid of 5 Lakes Consultants, who have carefully studied potential and doable ways our municipal utility and Traverse City can create and accomplish the actions needed. Review their plan HERE.

We, the people, whether TC residents or suburban neighbors, must give them our voices in support of the actions we, and our beautiful earth, need NOW.
