Enbridge has secured a spot to promote its proposed oil tunnel at a luncheon lecture series hosted at North Central Michigan College in Petoskey. We encourage all our supporters and climate advocates in the area to attend and ask your important questions about the proposed tunnel and the safety of the currently operating 70-year-old pipeline. (Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here.)
Help the Network voice our opposition to Enbridge’s proposed oil tunnel as a false solution, and press Enbridge about the grave environmental risks associated with its construction and operation. As stated by our partners at Groundwork Center for Resilient Communities who alerted us of this event, as the world shifts toward renewable energy to combat climate change, investing in infrastructure that supports the extraction and transportation of oil is the wrong choice. The lifespan of the tunnel and the associated pipeline will extend for nearly a century, locking in the use of carbon-intensive fuels when we are running out of time to make the shift to clean energy.
