The Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association (GLREA) holds an annual meeting called the 'Year End - Year Begin' Meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to go over the accomplishments of 2022 and to prepare for 2023 work.

This year's Event Theme is 'Accelerating the Transition to Renewable Energy," given the number of factors leading GLREA to believe the transition to renewable energy is rapidly accelerating, including:

  • Fossil fuels contribute to Climate Change and are very expensive due in part to the war in Ukraine.
  • The United States Congress enacted the Inflation Reduction Act, that encourages homeowners and businesses to purchase renewable energy - solar and geothermal. This Act restored the Investment Tax Credit to 30% for 10 years, which reduces the cost of purchasing solar and geothermal energy systems.
  • Utility rates keep going up every year, so people can save money and contribute to a cleaner environment by investing in a solar or geothermal system.

GLREA wants to discuss the role it will play to support this acceleration in 2023.

The annual meeting is a great education and networking opportunity to interact with other Michigan renewable energy advocates and learn about 2022 successes and plans for 2023. BYO snacks and beverages. Participate from your own computer. Invite friends and family.
