Powerful minds are convening during the Sept 08 EJ Summit. In the planning phase, we've been sitting with people, all over the Great Lakes, listening to the fights they're engaged in-- water protectors, standing for democracy, culture, families, and communities, and Sacred places. These warriors are protecting our future, now.

Flint residents are witness to a trial of those responsible for the poisoning of a city; Tribal members talking about the how the degradation of women and Earth are the same violence. The words, the stories, the strength and vision people hold... are the power of our movement. Come through, and join the movement-- for all our relations.

We have an amazing lineup of speakers and presenters from all over the land, who are coming to tell the story and change the narrative about how our communities are working for Environmental Justice for All.

The Program Begins at 8am with registration and light breakfast. At 9:30am the Aadizookaan — cultural workers from Detroit, and our host– will kick us off. Aadizookaan means “the sacred spirit of the story”, “the story/message/messenger” which is from the language of the Anishinabe. After hearing from Flint residents, participants will choose their own tracks and are welcome to join us at any of the 15 sessions offered.

KEYNOTE LUNCH: We’ll be joined by special guests Desmond Berry and Jannan Cornstalk for the Water is Life Keynote. Free lunch at noon.

Throughout the day you will be able to propose your own session. Emergent Sessions will be voted on and announced so that you may have the opportunity to bring a proposal to the conference if you missed the deadline, or if you had a great idea that wasn’t present in the summit. Those will be chosen by VOTING throughout the day.

Interpretation & childcare will be provided [upon request] throughout the day in the gymnasium.

NOTE: McCree Theatre is in the New Standard Academy on Carpenter, do not follow your GPS or Google Map, it will lead you to the rear where there is NO ENTRANCE.

This is a FREE event.
