MISolidarity is organizing a Progressive Solidarity Summit on October 2nd 2021. We’re inviting people and organizations to join us for a day of meeting and networking with progressives from across Michigan, cool speakers, and awesome entertainment. We would like the focus this year to be on Environmental issues in Michigan.

Growing strong social networks across the progressive and leftist communities in Michigan is a critical step towards building real, resilient, and lasting political power in our state and across our country.

Join us on October 2nd 2021 to meet progressives from across the state, learn about progressive organizations, enjoy a full program of speakers and entertainment, while growing your knowledge, networks, and communities. We’ll announce the full program once it’s finalized – watch this space:

If you are interested in sponsoring this event or setting up a table at it, please email [email protected]

Hi, I wanted to reach out and introduce us and our initiative.

Earth Gives is an environmental nonprofit startup creating a new digital space for environmental and climate-focused nonprofits—to help them network with one another, with donors, sponsors, initiate fundraising, really to help move the needle nationally on environmental philanthropy.

Right now, we’re registering several environmental nonprofits to participate in our inaugural giving day on October 7, 2021. We’re excited to share this opportunity with you! Registration for the giving day runs through Sept. 3, but the platform will exist as a permanent resource to help organizations supercharge their fundraising efforts.

I’ll specify, because I’m often asked: this is not a monetary ask and there are no ongoing fees, just a small one-time registration fee to help cover our backend costs. We’re really trying to be the water that lifts all ships in this space.

If you have any questions at all, feel free to give me a call. I encourage you to visit our website for more information.

Thanks and have a great weekend,

Hi, I’m interested in working together with your company. Are you open to partnerships?

Basically what we can do is get you featured on NBC, FOX, CBS affiliates and 100+ more media outlets.

It also means you can add “As Seen On: NBC, FOX, CBS” to your website as well – which has been proven to boost conversion rates up to 48%!

On top of that it has SEO benefits and drives free organic traffic to your site from the articles we publish about your brand.

If you’re interested in having your company featured, we can do it for just $297 (includes guaranteed publishing).

You can find out more on our website:

Or can you shoot me a quick email for a brief discussion!

It is really a shame that there is a half hour overlap between the national Citizens’ Climate Lobby conference on Saturday and the just announced Environmental Justice workshop. I would love to attend both. My primary commitment is to CCL. Will it be easy to leave the workshop early?

I’m would like to make another more substantial donation. But I’m a bit queered out by your anti-nuclear stance. That is so 1985.

100% Renewable energy is a scam put on by the Frack Gas industry, that funds Stanford’s Precourt Energy institute (look it up!) and spends $1 billion per year on PR for RE. The oil majors push RE for a reason— it is half natural (frack) gas by the time it reaches a customer. Because of intermittency getting filled in by the “reliable” toxic greenhouse gas business.

That’s why 100% clean energy is the right goal.

To get there we need some new design nuclear power.

It is also stupid to shut down existing nuclear but it won’t matter as much after new designs are running.

We should not be arguing about the 1980’s designs for nuclear. There is lots of stuff we can do after half a century of tech. See, ThorCon Energy, Terrapower, ARC Nuclear, New brunswick, Elysium, UltraSafe Nuclear,

    And for waste storage.

20 years from now, all those wind farms will be converted to more valuable real estate. No one will still want them in their backyards anymore.

China is going to build MSR nuclear reactors, clean and safe and cheap, and if the USA doesn’t… we will buy them from China.

    But is nuclear safe?

There are also “Future Tech!” ideas at the end of each section to develop better technologies and, overall, to make substantial progress on combating climate change. You can download the final galley proofs at:

In a post on Facebook you refer to a 1% cap on rooftop solar in Michigan, but you do not explain at all what it is. There certainly is no law that says only 1% of homeowners can install solar collectors. Does it have to do with net metering, or what? You really need to explain this better when you post something like this and ask people to sign a petition. I did not sign it because it was so unclear to me what you are talking about. (My household makes all the electricity we use from solar, so please don’t misunderstand my sympathies here.)

    Hello, MCAN!

My name is Christian. I’m a freelance videographer working on a documentary exploring the impacts of climate change in Michigan. I am looking for contacts in the climate action space who could advise me of the important topics and issues I should cover in this film. Are there individuals within the MCAN network you could connect me with to point me in the right direction? If anyone reading has leads or would like to contribute, please let me know!

I am part of a recent group of natural resource professionals promoting biochar as a local soil amendment. I serve as the District Forester for the Leelanau, Benzie and Grand Traverse Conservation Districts and the others on the new team are looking for collaboration with other local environmental groups interested in local responses and action to mitigate the stressors of climate change for the ag community and forest landowners. We wondered if we could connect with your group and share our thoughts on using waste from our forests and orchards to produce biochar as a great way to improve our sustainable practices.

A search of Guidestar and the IRS nonprofit search tool does not return any information regarding your tax exempt status. Please forward me your tax exempt status notification that includes your tax i.d. so I can process this funding.

My name is Brandi Crawford-Johnson and I’m fighting for environmental justice for my community in Kalamazoo. One of our polluters, Graphic Packaging International is being allowed to expand next to our fence line community despite hundreds of air complaints. The city is cutting down 721 trees for this polluter. EGLE approved a permit for them to increase their greenhouse emissions by 221%. This will affect all Michiganders. We must fight against this!

News from DeepGreen Metals Inc, Vancouver:

Research shows up to 90% carbon footprint reduction for critical minerals for electric vehicle batteries when sourcing them from deep-sea polymetallic nodules compared to conventionally mined land ores

Polymetallic nodules from the Clarion Clipperton Zone (CCZ) of the Pacific Ocean contain rich concentrations of four metals required for EVs in a single ore, including nickel, a crucial ingredient in EV batteries, which will increasingly be mined from beneath large forested carbon sinks in tropical areas like Indonesia and the Philippines

As governments scramble to secure supplies of critical minerals to build renewable infrastructure, the paper analyzes the planetary-scale and full lifecycle climate impacts of producing these metals
