Do you have some big feelings about climate change? Worry, fear, anger, sadness, and hope are just a few of the emotions that many people feel when confronted with our current climate crisis. Research shows that while most people feel alone with their feelings, the majority of people are concerned about climate change. You are not alone. Talking about these feelings in groups can help make them bearable.

If you've been looking for a supportive and empathetic space to discuss how you're coping with the climate and related crises, we hope you'll join us on Saturday March 22nd for a climate café in Traverse City. RSVPing is optional- it helps us estimate how many snacks and chairs we should prepare.

Climate Café Hosts:

Kennedy Williams is a 2022 graduate of the Environmental Sciences program at WMU.  She leads the Air Quality Monitoring project and the Black and Brown Environmental Impact Assessment for the Institute of Public Scholarship. Her work is focused on the intersection of Environmental Justice and Environmental Policy.

Serena Amdur is the Digital Community Manager at MiCAN and leads our Climate Culture Club project. Her favorite part of her job is getting to incorporate more art, creativity, joy, rest, and emotion into the climate movement.

Please note:  Don‘t be late to your Climate Cafe!

Climate Cafe Facilitators will be present at least 10 minutes before the start time.

All MiCAN Climate Cafe Facilitators stop admitting participants at 5 minutes after the start time of the Climate Cafe.  This allows participants the full time for their Climate Cafe experience, minimizes disruptions during the 90 minute group, and sets up a safe space that helps a deeper conversation unfold.  By registering for this Climate Cafe you are acknowledging understanding of the start time for the group, and the understanding that participants will not be admitted to the Climate Cafe once it has been underway for 5 minutes or longer.
