Carbon Inequality Kills: Why curbing the excessive emissions of an elite few can create a sustainable planet for all

We are excited to share with you our latest report, “Carbon Inequality Kills: Why curbing the excessive emissions of an elite few can create a sustainable planet for all.”

  • The climate crisis is deepening inequality. The world's richest are disproportionately responsible for the climate crisis, and the poorest are bearing the brunt of its devastating effects. This report reveals the stark reality of carbon inequality and its consequences for our planet. Billionaires emit more carbon pollution in 90 minutes than the average person does in a lifetime.
  • More importantly, their emissions are having devastating impacts on the economies, food security, and lives of everyone, especially in the poorest countries which have contributed the least to climate breakdown. The emissions of the richest 1% have caused global economic output to drop by $2.9 trillion since 1990.
