Call Lawmakers to Demand Climate Action

Update: The White House just released the full framework of the now-$1.75 trillion social safety net and climate bill. This includes a whopping $555 billion for clean energy and climate justice, and Congress is reportedly finally nearing a vote on this historic bill.

This $1.75 trillion Build Back Better bill would create good jobs, address environmental justice, and begin to tackle the climate crisis with the urgency that science demands. It would invest billions in wind, solar and efficiency to move us toward 100% renewable energy; create a Civilian Climate Corps; invest billions in electric vehicle charging stations and EV rebates; modernize the electrical grid; and make major investments in environmental justice communities.

But fossil fuel interests are still doing everything they can to try to stop the bill and are pressuring Members of Congress to water down this language and climate provisions. These special interests have succeeded in delaying action on climate change for decades. We cannot let them succeed in watering down these bills.

Congress must hear from everyone who supports ambitious climate action right NOW.

With our planet, our children and grandchildren's futures hanging in the balance, we simply cannot afford to squander this opportunity to pass the boldest climate legislation we've seen in our lifetimes.

We Are Running Out of Time to Pass the Budget Reconciliation Package

Now is a critical time to use your voice and make sure your lawmakers know that their constituents demand big, bold investments in climate action. Please take a couple of minutes to call your Members of Congress. Calls like these can make a huge difference, and we will need all pro-climate legislators on board in order to pass this bill, which could be voted on as soon as next week.

3. When you reach their office, ask to talk to their policy staff that work on climate change. If you aren't able to speak with them, leave a message.

Below are our suggested talking points to say once you are connected.

4. Lastly, be sure to REPORT YOUR CALL belowso we know how many calls are getting through!

"Hi, my name is _____. I’m a constituent of yours and I care deeply about climate change. I am calling to urge you to pass the $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill with full funding for all climate programs. Michigan is already experiencing the impacts of climate change, like the severe storms and flooding that impacted thousands of people this summer. Climate scientists have made clear with the latest IPCC report that we only have a narrow window to stabilize the climate, and to do so we must pass the climate investments in this budget proposal!

I urge you to support the full $3.5 trillion budget proposal with all climate investments intact, including investments in solar and wind to get us to 100% renewable electricity by 2035; electric vehicle charging stations; a Civilian Climate Corps, and major investments in environmental justice. Thank you for your time!"

Thank you for using your voice during this crucial window for federal climate justice action!
