From Practitioner to Climate Advocate
MiCAN Community Voices & MiCCA Educational Meeting
Two outstanding practitioners, Drs. Sue Holcombe and Cheryl Ruble, will discuss their journeys in becoming leading climate advocates on food, agriculture, and health.
All are welcome to join this interactive, conversational-style event, with two professionals focused on how to effectively engage in advocacy at the intersection of climate, food, agriculture and health. Co-hosted by the Michigan Climate Action Network and Michigan Clinicians for Climate Action.
Meet the Speakers:
Dr. Susan Holcombe is a retired large animal veterinary surgeon and professor from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She combines her knowledge and practical experience in animal agriculture with a strong interest in environmental activism and volunteers with several groups including MiCCA, Citizens Climate Lobby, and the Antrim County Conservation District.
Dr. Cheryl Ruble is an internist working in advanced wound care, hyperbaric medicine, and infectious disease. She is the mother to twins Hannah and Paul, an environmental zealot, and believes that healthy soil = healthy plants = healthy animals = healthy people. Cheryl is working to reform and roll back industrial agriculture and enforce and strengthen reforms restricting concentrated animal feeding operations that pollute our water and soil and produce unhealthy animal protein using inhumane practices while working with MiCCA and the Sierra Club.
