Willow Run Airport (See Facebook Event for Map)
The president is announcing a review of the EPA's historic auto emissions standards which would be the beginning of a process that is likely to result in rolling back those standards. This move is a tragic failure: we need to address the root causes of climate change. He will be in town to meet with automakers to roll back these regulations that have made huge gains in the climate and fuel efficiency.
THIS IS A SHORT TURNAROUND EVENT - The itinerary put out by the White House says the president is landing at Detroit airport at 12:45 pm and will be at Willow Run Airport before 2 pm.
Dress warmly (it will be 20 degrees, with the wind). Gather in Ypsilanti Township for a peaceful demonstration against Donald Trump's visit to Michigan. The president is announcing a review of the EPA's historic auto emissions standards, instituted under President Obama. This review is the beginning of a process that is likely to result in rolling back those standards. This move is a tragic failure: we need to address the root causes of climate change.
We highly recommend driving to a designated carpool lot (either off of Airport Industrial Drive to the North or at 1620 Beverly Ave to the South--we have permission to use these) and then hitching a ride to nearby street parking from there. Parking along the side of the road will be quite limited & we'd like to prioritize the differently abled and families with small children.
Together, we'll sing, chant and shout our opposition to Trump's proposed rollback.
Bring your signs, your voices, and your passion.
Organizers are VERY grateful to the many groups across the state who are helping with turnout. We wish we had time to list you all but this is a short-turnaround event!!! But we are SO grateful. Let's all keep working together. Thank you :)
Sponsored by a coalition of progressive groups: Progressive EMU, Progressives at the University of Michigan, We The People of Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor, and Michigan to Believe In. MANY thanks to the hundreds of groups helping with turnout including MICAN, Indivisible, Our Revolution, FAM, Democratic clubs and caucuses, and others--we are so much stronger, working together. Thank you!!
